Great location with amazing rooms.I was really impressed with this place. They rooms were great, clean, comfortable, and had fantastic views. It felt like we were on our honeymoon. The staff was very welcoming. There were several water activities available, however we did not have time to do any of them. My only two complaints were that in the morning the water was out, but I believe there was a power outage so it wasn’t their fault. And the wifi was tough to connect to.
Perfect stay for our last night in UgandaWe stayed at the Rock resort recently following a week of travelling long distances and trekking in Bwindi the day before so we were tired on arrival. The staff was attentive and helpful, our rooms large and very clean and the food just delicious. Ten out of ten also for the best ‘Ugandan Rolex’!
Lovely Lake side Lodge with stunning views and the best beds! Great value for money!If you want to relax at a quiet and remote location, Rock Resort is a great option! It’s located at the lakeside, so you’re able to go for a swim, relax at one of the sun loungers at the deck or take their canoe to enjoy the water and the numerous birds, like kingfishers. You will have a great view on the lake.
From there it’s also possible to do several activities, for example a boat ride to some of the 29 islands, like ‘Punishment Island’. Rock Resort also organizes gorilla trekkings including transport. I would recommend to stay at least 2 nights and if you’re planning to do the Gorilla Trekking from there, I would suggest to stay an extra night. It’s a perfect place to relax and chill-out after an exhausting gorilla trekking. Lake Bunyonyi, which means place of many little birds, is only a 2 to 3 hour drive from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, so it’s definitely an option to do organise a trekking from there.
Rock resort has without a doubt the best beds I slept in on my Uganda trip; it’s huge and comfy and I loved their spacious cottages with a private porch and views on the lake! I think it’s a romantic place where you’re able to enjoy the lake at its best. They also offer to service breakfast/diner at your porch/balcony. I loved their small green garden where you’re able to spot many little colorful birds.
They have a great menu with enough choice. The food was good and a lot! I loved their curry but all the other food I had was great as well. WiFi is available around the lounge/dining area, although the signal is not too good. In the evening, when it gets colder (I was there in November), the staff also offers a fire place in the lounge and dinging area to keep you warm. Very cosy!
Because of the welcoming staff you’ll feel immediately at home. Upon arrival we got hot towels, a refreshing fresh drink and some popcorn. It’s definitely a place I would recommend to others and where I would stay again in the future. The staff does everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The accommodations very comfortable! Robert has taken the best of his extensive travel experience and put it into one package. He has gathered talented staff from throughout Uganda. The food is delicious. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more!
