Visit bukola blacksmither to witness how different objects are done. The local people make various projects wrought iron. They them use hammer to bend and cut heated objects using the hammer. Various objects such as furniture, knives, gates, rings,  hoes, spoons, pangas, saucepans, sculpture, forks and light fixtures are made. Heating is normally done using propane, natural gas, coal and charcoal among others. The whole process takes several hours to allow objects get wholly heated making them easy to mend and cut.

Punishment island (Akampene)

This is the most visited island on Lake Bunyonyi.  as its name says, punishment island  was used by traditional bakiga to purnish wrong doers. The punishment island is where bakiga unmarried pregnant girls would be taken and left to die in isolation. These girls would be picked and taken  for marriage by men who had no money for bride price

Akacuraniko island

The island is locally translated as upside down. Its believed that  at one time a mukiga man was grazing his cows at the island when it turned down making the man drown  in the lake with his cows.

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Our driver guide will pick you from your hotel or Kigali
airport and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Check in to the lodge and  go for a boat ride to the islands of the
Lake. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & departure

After an early morning breakfast and with  your packed lunch transfer to the park
headquarters to attend a simple briefing about gorilla trekking rules and
regulations. Embark on a hike to meet gorillas in the jungle, spend an hour
with them and embrace their human like characters.  Hike back and transfer back to Kigali airport
for a return flight.

Rock Bungalow

Our bungalow has two bedrooms downstairs and three bedrooms upstairs, each with a private balcony and ensuite. There is also a kitchen and sitting room upstairs. All rooms have gorgeous lake views. Guests also have access to all of our resort facilities. All rooms have Lake views

WHOLE BUNGALOW; It has five rooms all having Balcony with Lake views, Seating room and Kitchen; Price $635 for the whole Bungalow at a Maximum of 13 people, additional person pays $40 Bed Only.

FAMILY/GROUP BUNGALOW

UPSTAIRS; Upstairs suitable for a Family/group of 6 to 10 sharing, Three Bed Rooms, seating room and Kitchen Price $395 for a maximum of 7 and extra person pays $35

DOWN STAIRS; Suitable for a Family/group of 6 to 10, Two Bed rooms Price $270 for a Maximum of 6 persons and $30 for extra person

Children's Policy

Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort also welcomes children of all ages.

  • All children below 5 years stay free of charge with their parents
  • Children below 12 years pay $30 pp per night for an extra bed (exclusive of meals)

  • All children aged from 5 to 11 years pay $20 per night  when using an exiting bed
