Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: KAMPALA-LAKE BUNYONYI –CHECK IN
Meet your private professional driver after breakfast and get briefed on this unforgettable honeymoon tour to Lake Bunyonyi. You will be transferred from Kampala up to Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort but en route, expect to make a stopover at the Equator crossing. At the Equator, have good time to take pictures and relax your legs then continue to one of the best hotels in Mbarara city for lunch.
Leave Mbarara for Lake Bunyonyi, arrive early and check in at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort. Early arrivals may include sunset cruise excursion on the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi which comes with plenty of drinks, dinner and so much more.
Lake Bunyonyi is found in the Southwestern Uganda, and features as Africa’s 2nd deepest lake. It boasts of its tranquility with over 29 islands dotted on it including Akampene, Bushara, Bucuranuka, and Bwama Islands, etc.
DAY 2: CANOE RIDE EXCURSION & SUNSET CRUISE LAKE BUNYONYI
Arise early and enjoy breakfast in the resort restaurant at leisure. Leave afterwards for your morning canoe ride. You will be exploring Lake Bunyonyi on a non-motorized boat and your excursion includes visit to one of the islands, especially the Leper’s Island. It will be long hours of paddling combined with spectacular views of Kigezi rolling hills and you will return to have delicious lunch.
Late in the afternoon, join others on an exciting sunset cruise expedition. Lake Bunyonyi sunset cruise excursion –watch the sun as it sets, and you will be guaranteed of plenty of drinks, dinner and more. Retreat and you will retire for a night at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort.
DAY 3: RELAXATION & SUNSET DINNER CRUISE
Enjoy a hefty breakfast at leisure while in the lush gardens. Have a relaxed moment till afternoon when lunch will be had on top of the world. Set off for a sunset dinner cruise on Lake Bunyonyi and this will come with beers, wines, soft drinks, meals and snacks. A comfortable stay will be at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort.
DAY 4: ENJOY ISLAND TOUR & ZIP LINING
Delicious breakfast will be enjoyed at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort’s restaurant and you will embark on another session of a boat ride. Head off to the Punishment Island, a spectacular island rich in history. Have deep insight into why it is called the Punishment Island. After the Island tour, you will have zip lining then relaxation, followed by lunch at the resort. Have a long afternoon relaxation at the resort and later dine around the swimming dock platform.
DAY 5: BIKING & DRIVE TO BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, meet the local guide ready for your rewarding mountain biking adventure. There are many cycling routes to explore each offering a unique experience as you explore the actual rural setting in Kabale district. Return and relax at the lodge, get lunch and you will connect to Bwindi National Park to check in at Engagi Lodge.
DAY 6: GORILLA TREKKING & BATWA EXPERIENCE
Meet your driver guide and you will be transferred to briefing centre/park offices in Buhoma sector. Get to understand the set guidelines to be followed on gorilla trekking adventure and before you engage in actual visit to see gorillas, the park official will allocate habituated gorilla families to you.
Start trekking through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest as you search for your gorilla family, an adventure that will go for 2-6 hours. The length of gorilla trek often varies depending on visitors’ speed of walking and location of gorillas. After the special one hour of up close and personal with gorillas, you will get back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon, pay a visit to original forest inhabitants –Batwa pygmies community for cultural entertainment, and learn about their traditions, unique cultures and practices. From the cultural tour, get back to Engagi Lodge for relaxation, dinner and a night stay.
DAY 7: DEPARTURE
Today marks the end of your one full week honeymoon expedition in Lake Bunyonyi. Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe through Mbarara 8-9 hours’ drive which includes a stopover at the Equator for leg stretching and have some refreshments.
