Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up & transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast at the hotel in Kampala, meet, and greet your driver guide from Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort. Have a brief look through the itinerary to know which activities you will do, places to visit and expectations on this 6 Days safari. Thereafter, start off a drive out of Kampala headed to Lake Bunyonyi in southwestern Uganda.  You will have your first stop at the Equator for photography and refreshment proceeding to Mbarara for lunch break. The driver guide will allow several stops along the way giving you chance to buy fresh fruits, roadside foods and snacks. Drive time from Kampala to Lake Bunyonyi is roughly 9 hours traversing through different districts. Overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Very early today, have breakfast and transfer to Bwindi forest to meet up with one of the 19 gorilla families inhabited in this jungle forest. The day starts with registration and pre gorilla trekking briefing at the respective park headquarters by park rangers. Gorilla treks start at 8:00am where you penetrate into the forest searching for the endangered primates. The allowed time with gorillas is strictly an hour counted from the time you set your eyes on these amazing primates. However, you can spend over 8 hours in the jungle before meeting gorillas. You will be amazed on how these primates behave like human beings. A silverback gorilla that acts like a dad in a human home heads the family while  adult females nurse babies just like our human mothers. Other wild animals you may meet in Bwindi forest include Bush Elephants, Colubus monkeys, wild dogs and bush pigs among others. Overnight stay at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort.

Day 3: Chill at Lake Bunyonyi

Spend this whole day chilling t Lake Bunyonyi. Enjoy your morning sleep, have a relaxed breakfast and relax from the previous day’s gorilla trekking fatigue.. You can take part in any of the interacting activities at Lake Bunyonyi such as swimming, nature walks, bicycling, boat cruising and scenic viewing among others.

Day 4: Golden Monkey trekking in Mgahinga

Wakeup very early, have breakfast and drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park where “Gold meets silver”. Report to Ntebeko visitor information Centre for registration and briefing on the rules of golden monkey trekking.  Mgahinga Gorilla Park is the only place to see golden monkeys in the whole of Uganda.  At 8:00am start the hike up into the forest searching for these lively creatures.  You may encounter other wild animals such a mountain gorillas, varvet monkeys, and black and white colubus monkeys during your search for the golden monkeys.  Spend an hour with these playful primates and take as many photos as you wish for memories.  You are reminded to hold your cameras tight or else a jumping monkey will grab it. You will then transfer back to Lake Bunyonyi

Day 5: Boat cruising & visit the black smith

After having a sunrise breakfast, jump onto the boat to enjoy the beauty of this amazing lake. Interestingly, you will cruise along with local people going to their farms and homes on the islands.  The boat cruise also takes you to visit different islands of Lake Bunyonyi such as Akampene, Bushara, Bwama, Bucuruniko and the punishment island. Return to the resort for lunch and refresh. In the afternoon, visit the black smith to see how local people make different tools such as knives, hoes and pangas with their hands.  The experience is experimental in that different metals are burnt and molded to make different products.  Stay at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort.

Day 6: Departure

Have a relaxed breakfast; enjoy your last moments on the shores on Lake Bunyonyi. You will then check out and hit the road back to Kampala. The full day drive via kigezi hills, and ankole farmland is thrilling.
